Mosquito control: With growing concerns for tropical diseases we have invested into our lodges ''zancudo'' maintenance. So far no issues to speak of! Capt and lodge manager has prior mosquito control experience in the states where he has applied the same practices here in Guatemala, at our private lodge. This is high end complex with regular grounds keepers maintaining the area, but we took it to another level.
Barrier spray once a week.
Treating standing water or eliminating any breeding sources. Our canal is tidal, so no chance on the water front.
Tiki torches, smoke coils under all the tables, as well as UV bug zapping lights on various points.
Finally bug spray for the actual skin for the few standing mosquito's left!
