Only lodge fishing these days, and we got the whole ocean to ourself!
July-Sept marks a great blue marlin time. Quickly being known as the summertime blues of Guatemala.
We had a short day charter, in by 2pm and just 16-18 miles offshore to east. Very good blue water, calm, plenty of mahi as well as sailfish in the mix. First blue marlin wouldn't tease in, last half hour of the day we had a nice blue crash the short poisition teaser, and in a matter of seconds the small tuna pitch bait was deployed. The blue was tight and released on the 50 lb rig. Just under 200 lbs.
Total Day Tally:
12-10-9 Sailfish
2-1-1 Blue Marlin
4 Mahi Mahi
Into August the blues will get bigger and more frequent if history repeats itself. Last year we had many 8-12 raise days and BIG blues around 500lbs.
More to come as we fish this friday. Tight Lines,
