March 13, 2016- Fishing Report
The bite is still on in Guatemala. Even better FLAT CALM & HOT. Daily we are seeing 40-50 raises, and the featured group here also caught 6-8 yellow fin off the ledge while getting 40 bites on the sailfish.
The fishing inshore at just 12 miles has produced BIG blue marlin around 400 plus LBS. While at around 20 miles sailfish are stacked up on the bait.
This past week we had a fly fishing group that saw 20 or more bites a day & very aggressive off the tease.
This season will go the distance. We are going to see such numbers until August. Best bill fishing fishery in the world, not just sailfish, but the marlin are moving in which is common this time of year too. Our biggest blues will be here from now until November.

Out with a bang!
The fishing will not slow down!
4 Day wrap up. 94 Sailfish released, 1 blue, 1 stripe. The blue & stripe marlin were caught on the same and final day which gave us our 2nd grand slam for the year. Daily we are seeing 40-60 fish a day depending on the quality of anglers.
A few more days to rest, get the boats ready for the next round of fishing madness. Tight Lines,

I had multiple groups fishing these days. One group on the famous Capt Hook with Capt Eddie on a 42 foot willis, and myself Capt Chris Starrs ran a local boat called ''La Joya'' 30 foot rampage for the once a month national tournament circuit.
Capt Hook- Capt Eddie-3 Day Total
3 days caught 110 Sails and Two Blue Marlin 3 Dorados
La Joya-Capt Chris Starrs- 2 Day Total
Day 1 inshore:
Sailfish
35-32-15
Day 2 offshore:
Sailfish
68-56-25 (SANCOHOs! aka my group sucked)
Total 2 Days: 40 sails 2 big dorado
The last day we were late getting to ''the spot'', but it was firing. I rarely use that term. Firing is literary a term used when triples and quads keep coming even while the boat is parked. No eating, no drinking, just dropping baits back and reeling fast! At one point while backing down to get a release anglers were catching sailfish in-reverse as they drag their baits back words! Now that is hot! More to come!!!! 2015-16 best fishing I have seen in a long time. March and April still have dates!

In house fly tournament results- January 14th, 2016
BOATS RAISES BITES RELEASES
PIRAGUA 104 65 33
SAILS PITCH 92 66 23 1 Marlin Bait
SAILS TACTIC 90 41 22
Grand Total of releases in 3 days: 78 Sailfish on fly 1 Blue Marlin on bait. All 15-20 miles.
Lots of blue marlin inshore just 8 miles in the ''shallow'' water. Hot boats are seeing as many 4 shots a day on bait of blues as big as 500 lbs!, as well as 30-40 bites on the bait. While the fly fishermen are getting average of 14 shots. Fishing has been pretty constant this entire year in Guatemala, more reports to come as Janaury heats up.

Monday we are back at it. We were happy to show our amigos from Australia a great couple of days on the water. Tight Lines, Capt Chris Starrs
