This past rainy season has been a lite one. The mahi mahi have still be in good numbers, but the steady temps on the surface are holding the bills near by as well. Short runs, and consistent water temps are a good thing. This happens ever so often, and usually, statistically, this means a great Oct to December start, and close steady runs throughout the season, well into the following rainy season (June).
While the charters are lean and mostly weekend based, its been very good. 25 sailfish in a day on average, with loads of mahi and even big blue marlin showing up have been the story since July. The current blue water is holding tight and the temps are perfect! We have some prime dates for the early part of the season while Oct is booked out! Get your Nov and December dates while they are still available. For now enjoy todays terrafin report of Iztapa Guatemala. Tight Lines, Capt Chris Starrs
Fishing has been solid this July. The mahi mahi can keep you busy just 8 miles from the dock, while just 15 to 20 miles are the sailfish and marlin. Our last charter did 20 releases, missed a blue, and loaded up the cooler with 20 dorado. The blue water reports are looking very favorable!! Stop fighting the crowds and come on down. The oceans all yours!!!!
Well this week is holy week in all of Latin America, usually a week our lodge shuts down to partake in the Catholic celebration of the days leading up to Easter. Basically a mad house! While preparing the boat for a 5 day fishing group this Mid week, I got a chance to hear fishing reports. Johnny on the famous ''Bolita'' a private 65 viking, was seeing some incredible days. His last day before he departed for Costa Rica (Wednesday), he raised 72 sailfish, with 50 plus bites. A good 40 mile hike is required but well worth the haul for such action. In addition yellow fin, a few marlin here and there, and inshore dorado are plentiful. Sunday I am heading out fly fishing to verify such fishing personally on the fly. As mentioned in our last report, inshore rooster fishing proves to be constant as we hooked into few more just yesterday while staying close. More to come, but it appears to be heating up. Hot weather, good fishing, and still some great dates in case you are interested in some world class fishing. Tight Lines,
Capt Starrs
Tournament dates have been released! November 11th to the 16th marks the dates for the International Bill Fish Tournament November 22nd to the 24th marks the dates for the Presidential Challenge *Lodging is still Available for both events.* |
I went 10 for 10 in two days for sails. That put me in the top 5 out of 50 guys. It was a good time, but same exact GPS numbers as the week before. Way off shore, straight out. You really benefit from a fast boat that consumes little fuel. That's our report! We still have opening for next season, but we are getting some early birds snagging key dates in Dec, Jan and Feb. Holler at your Captain for more info!
